John Steiner came to the San Francisco Zen Center in 1967 a few months before the first practice period at Tassajara and participate in that practice period. His involvement with peace and environmental work began before then and continues to this day as does his spiritual path. These days he's focusing on getting young people and minorities registered to vote. In this podcast he talks about how he got on the so-called spiritual path and the engaged one and more. This is the 2nd of two podcasts with John.

HELLO This person John Steiner IS CORRUPT! In the Fall of 1978 John came to our house in Santa Rosa CA and popped open the trunk of their red Audi and placed a half dozen tiara type necklaces on the front porch. He gave us no warning and no preparation. We were a poor family -since the 60’s in Santa Cruz. Our dirty mattress on the floor was only luxury. John knew our ”mother” from New Games by Stewart Brand of the Whole Earth Catologe ( which our ”mother” help organize the first New Games Tournament. She would neglect and abuse us three children. She was only their to ”party”. Her name was Pat (Rose) 3/36- 7/24 Farrington CEO of the New Games Foundation I believe Pat ruined the credibility of the left wing politically- for everyone. She took a great idea of re-imaging competition/ recreation. But her secret curelity to their children put a negative aura over and around it. No one can ”lift” the left, there’s no rut. Since John displayed decadent jewelry on our porch, we have not been the same since and continue to struggle. The jewelry tears through our head humiliates. Having only the roots and grasses in which to ground ourselves was gone. marble floors” than grasses. A day in 1992 i called John in Colorado. John answered and I gently tried to tell him -if there was anything they could do, or, what to do about the Jewelry residue. He just denied it and yelled at me- that if I wanted to know more, I was to ask my mother! Was all to pad Jews and Isreal? The effect of the alternative movement is not to be taken lightly, its not a time to poor, with Black and Native Americans all have their ”cards” on the table and are putting their trust out there-time and strength.
